Uber + Spotify Campaign

Nothing goes with a great ride quite like a great song. Our partnership with Spotify gave riders the easiest way to get both. A dedicated landing page and email announced the launch, but the activations on launch day really got people singing. We coordinated secret shows in cities around the country—when riders opted in to syncing their Uber and Spotify accounts, they were given instant access (and a ride there). And musicians from Diplo to Jake Owens surprised riders in 10 cities around the world by taking a turn behind the wheel. The partnership got positive press attention and significant adoption.

Fun fact: In our Uber from JFK for the launch party, our driver asked if we wanted to listen to music. Our product manager was psyched, until the driver handed him an AUX cable.

Funner fact: This campaign won the 2015 Grand Clio for partnerships.
